What does my dancer wear to their dance class?

Outfits and shoes depend on the style of class. Scrolling down will list styles of dance by age and dress requirements. Please visit the front desk at the studio for required ABT and Ballet leo colors.

How's my dancers hair suppose to be?

ALWAYS pulled back and out of the face. Having hair secured in dance class is extremely important, and will be enforced in all classes. For ballet classes, hair must be in a tight, slicked back, bun.

Why is there an ABT and ballet dress code?

When all dancers dress the same and follow the rules, it gives the dancers a sense of belonging and community. This aids in teamwork, respect for their fellow classmates, and being synchronized in their movements. Above all, our dress code is chosen carefully so the teacher is able to correct your student on posture and alignment as well as prevent injury for the ankles, knees, hips, back, shoulders, and neck. Teachers must be able to see that the bones are lined up and the proper muscles are activated. This allows for a safer and more complete dance education and longevity in your dancer’s body. Following dress code shows respect for your teacher and for your studio’s rules. This sense of respect will allow for a better learning experience for your dancer.

What kind of shoes does my dancer need?

Each style has a different type of shoe requirement. We require a specific tap, jazz, lyrical, Hip Hop and ballet shoe. Shoes should never be worn outside as it ruins the material and can track dirt and wax onto the dance floor witch can cause falls and injury. The shoes my be a little uncomfortable at first. Many young dancers are not used to the feel. Shoes stretch, break in, and become more comfortable with time, use, and sweat.

Does my dancer need a bun for ballet class?

YES! Having the dancers hair slicked back into a bun is required for all ballet and ABT classes. Wearing the hair in a secure and neat bun actually aids the dancer in their technique. When the hair is pulled high and centered in the middle of the head and pulled snugly on all sides, the dancer gains a better sense of balance and control over their movements. When the dances turn and whip their head around (called spotting), the bun allows them to have more of a snap to the movement, resulting in a better turn. Students who are constantly fixing and adjusting their hair in the middle of dance class will do so onstage, even if their hair is perfectly pulled back that day!

2 Year Old Class Attire

Tippy Toes (Girls):

Pink leotard, pink tights, and classic pink split sole leather ballet shoes (NO TIES).

Tippy Toes (Boys):

White shirt, black tights/pants/shorts, black split sole leather ballet shoes (NO TIES).

3-4 Year Old Class Attire

ABT Ballet & Acro Combo Class:

Girls: Visit Infinity's Front Desk for correct Leo color, Prima Pink CONVERTIBLE tights, and Prima Pink split sole leather ballet shoes (NO TIES). Dancers will be barefoot for Acro class. Hair must be pulled back away from face (ballet bun prefered).

Boys: White shirt, black convertible tights/pants/shorts, black split sole leather ballet shoes (NO TIES). Dancers will be barefoot for Acro class.

**No baggy warm-ups allowed in class. Ballet wraps may be worn.

Tap:

Fitted dancewear and black tie tap shoes. Hair must be pulled away from face.

Jazz, Pom, or Leaps & Turns:

Fitted dancewear and tan leather (girls) or black leather (boys) jazz shoes. Hair must be pulled away from face.

Lyrical:
